Apex Medical's Serene LAL / APL Pressure Redistribution Mattress System is one of the most versatile mattresses available. It is especially ideal for people with pressure management needs, such as burn victims and those with severe bodily injuries.

Here, the most prominent feature is the combination of a blower system and true air loss. With this combination, the air mattress optimizes skin microclimate management to prevent skin breakdown and tissue deformation.

The mattress also comes with a dual operation mode, which switches from Alternating to Continuous Low Pressure based on your needs. In the Alternating mode, the mattress capitalizes on a bariatric pressure distribution system that guarantees optimal blood circulation in case you are unable to tolerate regular alternating pressure therapy. As for the Continuous Low Pressure mode, the mattress provides deep envelopment to reduce bone deformation.

The mattress itself inflates and deflates every 15 seconds, offering pulsation and a massage-like operation. This way, patient blood flow is optimized and therapy can be consistent. How should I clean my Apex Serene Mattress?

Answer: Clean the surface in a dry and dust free environment. Wipe down the pump unit with a damp cloth pre-soaked with a mild detergent. Avoid contact with dust and proximity to dusty areas. Make sure that any cleaning agents you use will not harm or corrode the plastic casing on the pump unit.

Wipe-down the mattress unit with a damp cloth pre-soaked with warm water containing a mild detergent, or chlorine bleach followed by an approved intermediate level disinfectant. Also the mattress top cover can be completely removed for laundry with water temperature up to 95 degrees F. The cover may be cleaned using sodium hypochlorite diluted in water. After cleaning, please avoid dust and proximity to dusty areas and all parts should be air dried thoroughly before use.

How should I store my Apex Serene Mattress if I no longer need it but wish to keep it in good condition for the future?

Answer:

Quickly deflate the mattress for storage. Click on the release button on the Quick Connector.

Roll from the foot end towards the head end with CPR valve open, and make sure the tubing is not kinked.

Foot-end strap can then be stretched around the rolled mattress to prevent unrolling. Fasten the buckle strap to secure the packed mattress.

The power cord could be wrapped around the pump bumper on the back of pump, pack the pump with protective package.

Place the whole system into the carrying bag.

I keep bottoming out when I use this mattress, am I doing something wrong?

Answer: This may be due to the pressure setting being inadequate for the patient, adjust comfort range 1 to 2 levels higher and wait for a few minutes for the best comfort.
