Protekt Aire 5000 Alternating Pressure Low Air Loss Mattress System

The constant pressure and friction against points of the body that make the most contact with the bed can cause skin to weaken and tear. This combined with heat and moisture buildup often leads to pressure ulcers, which can be painful and difficult to heal. The Protekt (tm) Aire 5000 helps prevent the formation of pressure ulcers, and allow existing wounds to heal more easily. The mattress's air bladders provide alternating pressure, which relieves the pressure on vulnerable parts of the body. The low air loss function circulates air over the surface of the mattress, keeping the patient's skin cool and dry, eliminating two contributing factors to pressure ulcer development.

The Protekt (tm) Aire 5000 mattress overlay is 5"½ thick with a 3"½ foam base. The foam base provides an extra layer of comfort to prevent the patient from hitting the hard bed frame in case of a power failure. There are 18 small air holes in the surface of the mattress to release air for the low air loss function. The air lost through these holes is replaced by the pump to keep a constant supply of air to the mattress. A CPR valve allows the mattress to be deflated quickly if needed. The mattress is protected by a removable vinyl cover that has water resistant, anti-microbial, and non-shear properties. The quilted top makes it more comfortable for patients to lie on, and the non-skid bottom keeps it securely in place. The mattress can be cleaned with disinfectant solution when needed.

The Protekt (tm) Aire 5000 air pump produces a flow of 8 liters of air per minute and has adjustable settings for pressure and air flow. A low pressure alarm sounds if the air pressure in the mattress gets too low. This alarm can be muted if desired using the alarm reset button. The pump also provides a static function which inflates the mattress completely for a firmer surface, which is useful for patient transfer in and out of bed. The air pump plugs in using a UL and CSA approved power cord and supports a weight capacity of 350 lbs.
