With new Shear Transfer Zones, the cover of the PressureGuard® APM 2.0 provides extra shear protection with silicone-coated fabric bands located on the underneath of the bi-directional stretch cover in addition to the Geo-Matt segmented top surface. The scapula, sacrum, and heels are able to glide over this surface during transfers and regular usage. Protects against the damaging effects of micro shear, macro shear, and rotational (pivot-induced) shear. Fluid-proof, coated nylon cover is also anti-fungal, and bacteriostatically treated.
The inflation system consists of four urethane air cylinders in standard models that run head to foot underneath the body and the foam topper. These cylinders perform the alternating pressure therapy, and the lateral rotation therapy in the APM2 models. Cylinders inflate and deflate in a fixed 10-minute cycle. The cycles and inflation levels are designed to provide and maintain low interface pressures throughout the mattress, and to redistribute peak interface pressure points during the alternating cycle. Change instantly and easily from alternating pressure to basic lateral rotation with a single, recessed toggle switch. Requires no disconnecting or exchanging of air lines. Indicator lights for "Low pressure"½ and "Power Failure"½ give users assurance-at-a-glance of proper function.
"Alternate"½ mode changes loading in 10-minute cycle; controlled at mattress for choice of lateral rotation or alternating pressure therapy.
"Float" mode provides powered flotation therapy.
Timed (20-minute) "Auto Firm" mode for transfers, ADLs, & CPR.
Simple, indexed comfort adjustment.
"Low Pressure" and "Power Failure" indicator lights and audible alarms
We also offer the original APM model that does not include lateral rotation mode or the Shear Transfer Zones. Please see the item listing under Options/Accessories above.
