The
DolphinCare FIS (Fluid Immersion Simulation) Stretcher Pad System from Joerns keeps patients comfortable and supported during transport. This revolutionary system emulates a
neutrally buoyant state that provides state-of-the-art
pressure redistribution much like one would receive if they were submerged in a fluid medium. This effective pressure redistribution helps to prevent and treat wounds like amputations, burns, grafts, and pressure ulcers. The system also offers exceptional
pain management to those with AIDS, arthritis, or those receiving oncology treatment.
This stretcher pad system is controlled by an
automatic therapy control unit. Its graphics are easy-to-read and its usage is extremely intuitive. The control unit requires
no manual data input and
automatically adjusts to the patient's individual body, weight, and any repositionings. By conforming to each individual patient, this system minimizes soft tissue degradation, reduces ischial tuberosity (curved bone at the bottom of the pelvis) penetration into muscle fascia, and improves blood flow.
The stretcher pad is composed of smooth nylon fabric. It has
low friction and low shear properties which protect the patient's skin. Additionally, the fabric is
breathable and moisture-wicking, keeping patients dry and preventing skin maceration.
In the event of a power loss or disconnection, the system will sound an alarm and illuminate its LEDs. The system also features a
rechargeable battery backup that plies the control unit with power for up to 12 hours in the event of disconnection or power failure.
