Prevent and treat wounds by minimizing soft tissue degradation with the
Dolphin FIS (Fluid Immersion Simulation) Low Profile Mattress from Joerns Healthcare. Designed to
simulate the effects of a body submerged in a fluid medium, this mattress offers patients a progressive alternative to wound treatment and prevention. The submersion effect grants patients
optimal pressure redistribution, which helps to maintain consistent near-normal blood flow, and effective pain management for various afflictions.
This FIS (Fluid Immersion Simulation) mattress
works by automatically sensing and adjusting to conform to each individual patient's body shape, weight, and repositionings. The support surface of the mattress
monitors itself more than 100 times per second to detect any patient movement or surface changes, adjusting itself as needed. The system is controlled by a
therapy control unit that requires
no manual input. By maintaining its optimal support surface, the Dolphin FIS mattress creates a
neutrally buoyant state and is able to provide an
individualized immersion profile for every patient.
This innovative system
addresses pressure redistribution, friction reduction, and reduction in shearing forces, which are key areas in the treatment of compromised skin. The
pressure redistribution supplied by the Dolphin System effectively treats amputations, burns, grafts, flaps, and pressure ulcers. The
pain management provided by the Dolphin System helps to relieve discomfort from AIDS, arthritis, and oncology treatment.
In the event of power disruption or failure, the system will sound an alarm and illuminate its LEDs. The system features a
rechargeable battery backup that gives the control unit power for up to 12 hours in the event of disconnection or power failure.
NOTE: This mattress contains a foam-based safety cell that protects patients from bottoming out in the event of a power failure that exceeds battery life.
