Dolphin FIS (Fluid Immersion Simulation) Mattress System

The Dolphin FIS (Fluid Immersion Simulation) Mattress Replacement from Joerns Healthcare is a progressive therapy system that simulates the effects of a body submerged in a fluid medium to provide pressure redistribution. This state-of-the-art pressure redistribution helps to prevent and treat wounds by minimizing soft tissue distortion and maintaining a consistently near-normal blood flow.

The Dolphin FIS System features a therapy control unit that adjusts and controls all functions of the bed. This control unit has easy-to-read graphics and possesses an intuitive set-up, making its use that much simpler. The control unit requires no manual input as it automatically adjusts the mattress to conform to the patient's body to provide an optimized three-dimensional support surface. The system also monitors the support surface more than 100 times per second to detect patient movement or surface changes, automatically adjusting the support surface as needed. By maintaining this optimal support surface setting, the Dolphin System creates a neutrally buoyant state and is able to provide an individualized immersion profile.

This system addresses pressure redistribution, friction reduction, and reduction in shearing forces, which are vital areas in the treatment of compromised skin. The pressure redistribution offered by the Dolphin System effectively treats amputations, burns, grafts, flaps, and pressure ulcers. The pain management that the Dolphin System provides helps to alleviate discomfort from AIDS, arthritis, and oncology treatment.

The mattress is made of smooth nylon fabric with low friction and low shear properties; it protects patients' skin from these harmful forces. The fabric is breathable and moisture-wicking, keeping your patient consistently dry and preventing skin maceration.

In the event of a fault condition, the system will sound an alarm and illuminate its LED. The system also features a rechargeable battery backup that gives the control unit power for up to 12 hours in the event of disconnection or power failure.

NOTE (for V-Matt Therapy Mattress Models ONLY) : There is an air-filled safety cell that protects patients from bottoming out in the event of power failure that exceeds the bed's battery life.
