P.R.O. Matt Plus Alternating Pressure Surface for Bedsores

Pressure ulcers, also known as bedsores, abrasions, bruises, or other injuries of the skin and underlying tissue that come from prolonged exposure to pressure. They are found most commonly in patients who are either bedridden or have a condition that inhibits their ability to change positions while sleeping. Though treatable, some pressure ulcers never fully heal. The P.R.O. Matt® Plus is a reactive surface designed to help prevent and treat existing bedsores by adjusting to each individual user, providing an optimized sleeping or sitting platform.

The P.R.O. Matt® Plus utilizes controlled air cell inflation in four zones head, shoulders, torso, and foot that automatically adjust to the patient's body profile and weight. This can help prevent and treat Stage I and II pressure ulcers, as well as Stage III and IV uncomplicated ulcers for individuals with multiple turning surfaces. For Stage III and Stage IV treatment, patients should find at least two positions that keep pressure off the wound.

P.R.O. valve technology from Joerns® ensures optimal air pressure for each zone is maintained for every patient no matter their weight or body profile. The 1 thick mattress cover can be made of viscoelastic material that helps with pressure redistribution and is comfortable for the patient or nylon material that zippers closed and is both comfortable and easy to wipe clean. Both cover options are fluid-proof and stain resistant for easy cleaning and sanitation and are designed for both low friction and minimal shear to additionally help prevent the occurrence of bedsores. A firm perimeter provides additional stability and reduces gaps between frames and side rails.

The CBC Control Unit pumps work in conjunction with the P.R.O. Matt® Plus to convert the surface to alternating pressure therapy. The unit allows the air cells to alternate pressures in three zones, including the heel zone which is particularly sensitive. This cycled relief can help advance the treatment of uncomplicated Stage III and IV pressure ulcers.
