Encourages Self Mobility
The Broda Latitude Pedal Wheelchair (Rocking) (48R) can be self-propelled by the user with either the arms or legs, depending on the type of wheels chosen. With the Latitude's standard casters, residents can use their legs to propel the chair. Adding Mag wheels makes it possible for the resident to use their arms for self-propulsion. The ability for residents to move helps with socialization and provides light exercise that can help strengthen weak residents while contributing to overall resident happiness.
Calms and Soothes Agitated Residents
The Latitude Pedal Rocker features a gentle rocking feature that soothes agitated residents as well as provides light exercise. This rocking feature also absorbs shock from rigid movements. Caregivers can lock the rocking mechanism for safety purposes when needed.
Comfort Tension Seating
Broda's Comfort Tension Seating is a suspension system made up of heavy gauge polyvinyl chloride straps that redistribute pressure evenly, encourages airflow, and prevents bottoming out. By conforming to the body, the seating system comfortably cradles the resident. Because the strapping system allows air to flow throughout the chair, heat and moisture build-up is eliminated. The strapping system keeps its firmness and resiliency over time, even with heavy use. Fungicide and ultraviolet protected, Comfort Tension Seating extends the chair's life time. This seating system is also easy to keep clean with straps that can be easily wiped down to disinfect.
Infinite Adjustability
The Broda Latitude Pedal Wheelchair (Rocking) (48R) has an 18-degree posterior tilt but can tilt up to 33 degrees when both the tilt and rocker functions are used together. With tilt abilities, the chair helps improve posture and redistribute pressure to maintain skin integrity. Caregivers can reposition residents into a range of positions, which encourages the use of the chair for longer periods without the need to transfer to another location such as a bed. Fewer transfers lead to a higher degree of patient safety, eliminating exposures to falls. A front pivot seat tilt function ensures that residents can place their feet on the floor for self-propulsion mobility purposes. This feature also helps residents to be more visually aware of their environment and encourages socialization. The seat to floor height can be adjusted from 14" - 19" in height. Both armrests can be adjusted in height.
Comfortable Padding and Support
The Broda Latitude Pedal Wheelchair (Rocking) (48R) provides supportive positioning and pressure redistribution that helps maintain skin integrity. Particularly, the pelvis is maintained in a properly aligned position when using the Latitude. Removable wings provide upper lateral support. A headrest cushion, shoulder bolsters, lower side pads, and seat and back pad with covers comes standard with the Latitude Pedal Rocker. Combined with Broda's Comfort Tension Seating, the body is well supported with pressure distributed evenly in order to help prevent and treat pressure ulcers. Additional Positioning Packages are also available.
Durably Designed
Made with 16 gauge powder coated tubular steel, Broda chairs are built to last through years of heavy use in long term residential facilities. The Comfort Tension Seating Suspension System uses firm straps, which are riveted to the chair frame, and retains memory by returning to its original shape when pressure is removed.
Fully Customizeable
The Broda Latitude Pedal Wheelchair (Rocking) (48R) can be fully customized to meet your facility's specific needs. Padding is available in your choice of 4 different stylish colors that match a variety of decor schemes, and there are 2 different frame colors to choose from. There are 4 different seat widths, 4 different chair depths, 6 different seat heights, and 3 different back heights. Casters come standard with the self-propelled chair, but if it is preferential for the resident to use their arms instead of legs for self-propulsion, front or rear Mag wheels can be added. Armrests are available in soft, padded, and a depth adjustable version. Additional Positioning Packages can be added, which are available in 3 different sizes. Additionally, swing away and elevating swing-away footrests are available.
