Swing Away and Removable Arms
The Elite's height adjustable arms swing away and can be removed. This allows for easy side access during transfers. To remove the arms, simply push down on the front of the armrest while also pushing in on the button located on the side panel. The arm can then swing open and slide out. When the caregiver is ready to lock the side arm back into place, a clicking sound will provide indication that the arm is safely locked back into place. The arms can be removed for accommodating the resident at a dining or activity table.
Swing-Away Adjustable Wings
The Elite includes angle adjustable wings that provide upper lateral support. This addition works well for residents of all heights and shoulder widths. The wings lock into place along the wing frame and will not slip out of position. With the ability to adjust to 0, 22, and 45 degrees, a customized fit can be achieved. For easy side transfers, the wings can be swung out of the way, which saves time from having to fully remove the wing. This feature prevents the loss of parts from occurring as well.
Comfort Tension Seating System
Broda's Comfort Tension Seating System uses heavy gauge polyvinyl straps that conform to the resident's body, helping to redistribute pressure and prevent as well as help treat pressure ulcers. This system provides superior comfort and eliminates the bottoming-out effect that commonly occurs with geri chairs. Comfort Tension Seating allows air to circulate, which reduces heat and moisture buildup.
When pressure is taken off the straps, they return to their original shape within 10 seconds. This memory retention feature ensures that the chair keeps its resilience over time, even under heavy use. The straps, which are installed under tension, are riveted to the chair's frame. Protected against ultraviolet rays and with fungicide, the strapping suspensions system provides long term durability.
Infinitely Adjustable
The Broda Elite Tilt Wheelchair (85V) has a tilt-in-space feature that allows the chair to be tilted up to 40 degrees. To activate the seat tilt, a caregiver can squeeze down on the tilt handle to achieve the desired angle. This feature prevents the patient from sliding. The leg rest angle can also be adjusted by squeezing the leg rest handle until the desired angle is achieved. A removable and angle adjustable footrest, which attaches to the leg rest frame, can be individually flipped up to accommodate transfers. The armrest height can also be adjusted with pins located under the armrest flap.
Superior Support
The Broda Elite Tilt Wheelchair (85V) provides moderate to advanced positional support, which works well for patients who display signs of severe agitation, involuntary movement, and knee contractures. For residents with hip injuries, the adjustable length leg rest and footplate can be extended in a 90 degree angle. Both armrests are height adjustable for arm support, and removable wings provide upper lateral support.
Standard Elite padding includes a neck rest pad, seat and back pads, shoulder bolsters, upper and lower side pads, calf and sole pads. The shoulder bolsters can be snapped into place with straps that buckle. The Elite has a 32" high back for the ultimate in support, especially when the chair is tilted. Combined with Comfort Tension Seating, these superior support features comfortably cradle the resident's body, helping to prevent slumping, as well as pressure ulcers from forming. A leg rest contracture sling conversion kit is also available and includes a sling, pad, rails, and seat frame.
Casters
The Broda Elite Tilt Wheelchair (85V) can be easily maneuvered through tight spaces such as hallways and allows for lateral movements. Front casters can be operated by stepping on and off the pedal to unlock the wheels. The rear casters include 3 functions that are controlled by the butterfly pedal. The tracking position eliminates any swivel functions, which is ideal for maneuvering through tight spaces.
