Urias Chambered Pediatric Air Splints

These splints are made of durable PVC sheeting with an inner layer that provides superior molding around the limb. During inflation, the soft inner layer molds precisely to the limb, providing all-over, even pressure. The latex free Urias Chambered Pediatric Air Splints are open at both ends with a plastic zipper closure for easy donning and doffing. They can be used to immobilize the distal joints and to restore motion and control at the proximal joints. The Urias Chambered Pediatric Air Splints counter abnormal tone development following brain trauma or stroke. These splints inhibit spasticity, assist movement patterns, expedite weight bearing and reduce edema. The dynamic force of these pressure splints encourages sensory recovery by stimulating proprioceptors. They also inhibit development of contractures in neurological disorders. Where a contracture is already present, Urias Splints may be used to stretch it, gradually reducing the deformity.The single chamber design allows for even air distribution around the extremity, and is useful for edema reduction. The double chamber design allows for varying amounts of pressure in each chamber to assist with contracture reduction and tone control.

Apply the splint to the limb, and inflate it using a filter and a disposable mouthpiece (sold separately). The filters help prevent moisture from accumulating in splints, and they change color to indicate the need for replacement. These splints can be cleaned with warm, soapy water.
