Protekt Aire 2000 Alternating Pressure Low Air Loss Mattress System

The Protekt (tm) Aire 2000 mattress overlay uses alternating pressure and low air loss to prevent pressure ulcers. The low air loss is highly effective at pressure ulcer prevention because it addresses all causes: pressure, shear, friction, moisture, and heat. The alternating fill of the air bladders redistributes pressure on the body to relieve major contact points. The overlay is made with a low shear, low friction material that won't harm the skin. Sixteen small air holes allow some air to escape, keeping the patient's skin cool and dry. The pump provides a continuous flow of air and replaces air lost through the holes, keeping the mattress inflated. These features combined greatly reduce the causes of pressure ulcers to keep patients' skin safe.

The Protekt (tm) Aire 2000 mattress overlay has seventeen 5"½ air bladders and a removable nylon cover. The non-shear cover is water resistant to prevent buildup of moisture when the patient sweats, and anti-microbial for hygiene. The non-skid bottom keeps the overlay from sliding around on the bed. A CPR valve allows the overlay to be deflated quickly when needed. The mattress overlay's weight capacity is 300 lbs.

The air pump connects to the overlay with kink-resistant tubing to provide an uninterrupted air flow, and it has a dial which allows the air flow to be controlled. The cycle time for the air bladders to fill is ten minutes. A low pressure alarm alerts caregivers if the air bladders aren't being filled properly, allowing them to assist the patient before the mattress deflates completely. The pump can be attached to the bed with the included adjustable hanging brackets, and it plugs in with a standard hospital grade power cord.
