K-4 D3X Digital Alternating Pressure LAL System features an innovative micro-controller unit with RTPM sensor technology and auto-sensing and multi-use control capabilities. This unit monitors pressure and patient weight and height. Its programmed software permits changes to pressure, time, and function. The control panel of the unit is designed with dome keys and a bright, 4x20 digital LCD display. This allows caregiver to make selections of patient pressures, A/P time, and comfort level pressure that is measured from Soft to Firm in mmHg. The Max Flow mode permits rapid inflation between 15 - 50 seconds, depending on mattress size. The Fowler sensor has the ability to automatically detect the patient's fowler position. When in fowler position, the mattress inflates to 80% higher than set pressure to eliminate patient bottoming. Static, alternating pressure, pulse, massage, or multiple therapies are simultaneously provided with true low air loss relief. A built-in lock out key makes it so a patient will not be able to tamper with or adjust the settings and power switch.
To use the control unit, pull outwards on the hanger, which is on the back of the control unit. Then, hang it from the footboard on the bedframe. If the bed does not have footboard, place the control unit on its base on a flat surface.
Smart Support Surface forms the mattress part of the K-4 D3X Digital Alternating Pressure, True Low Air Loss System. This surface gives therapeutic support with high-quality, urethane-coated air cushions. The air cushions are arranged 16/20 cells per mattress, which provide pulse therapy with low-interface pressures. A low-friction, low-shear producing top sheet is also urethane-coated, which makes it vapor permeable. The air cell layout has a simple, yet incredibly effective design. They are connected to the manifold and fastened to the base. Then, a top sheet is zippered to the base. A rugged hose with assembly and magnetic connector is built in for quick detachment. This helps caregivers perform emergency CPR procedures. All mattress components can be easily detached and cleaned.
The Overlay Mattress of the K-4 D3X Digital Alternating Pressure, True Low Air Loss System is quick and easy to set up. Simply unroll the overlay onto a foam mattress. Attach the provided straps and fix them into the correct areas on the mattress to ensure stability and patient safety. After the mattress and straps have been correctly adjusted, tuck the exposed straps underneath the mattress. When using the side-bolstered mattress system, the bolsters can be separately deflated from the rest of the mattress to assist a patient with getting in and out of bed.
If the K-4 D3X Digital Alternating Pressure, True Low Air Loss System is not in use, the mattress can be easily rolled up and put in a plastic bag to keep it free of dust and debris. If it is being transported, the mattress has two handles or shoulder straps.
There are seven systems available. This includes a cell overlay, 8 or 10 inch mattress, side-bolster, or bariatric options.
