K-3, K-4 Expandable Mattress System

The K-3 and K-4 Expandable Mattress Systems are revolutionary sleeping platforms that provide customized comfort and support. At the core of these systems is an auto-sensing, multi-use control unit with RTPM sensor technology. This advanced unit boasts user-friendly software for adjusting pressure, time, and function. Control panel features include a dome key and a 4x20 digital LCD display that are used to provide real time information such as current mode, times, weight and height, comfort pressure and other functions. The K-4 System provides therapy options such as static, alternating pressure, pulse, and massage, and the K-3 System, provides either static or pulsating therapy. The continuous Low Air Loss (LAL) Therapy is provided by both the K-4 and K-3 systems.

The Smart Support Surface is made of high-quality, urethane-coated air cushions. The design of the air cushions allows for pulse therapy with low-interface pressures. The top sheet is also urethane-coated, providing for vapor permeability, friction reduction, and shear reduction. The air cell design is straightforward: the cells are attached to a manifold and fastened to the base. This includes an expandable feature whereby at the foot end of each mattress, there is included a two-position valve to either side, so the right side allows width expansion while the left side enables length extension. This provides broad compatibility of the mattress with multiple bed and user dimensions where needed.

Practicality and ease of use are at the center of designing these systems. The MAX Inflate key, which quickly inflates the mattress, is also used in providing firm support during the transfer or care of users. To deflate, all the user has to do is turn the valves to the off position and remove the hose from the control unit. Safety features of the system include the quick-release button that removes selected air cushions in case of emergencies. It includes easy-to-remove mattress components for cleaning, thus allowing much better hygiene and maintenance access. There is the option to choose between the universal mattress for the K-3 AIRE ZONE system or the K-4 D3X system.
