K-3, K-4 Expandable Mattress Systems come with an auto-sensing, multi-use control unit. It is a micro-controller with RTPM sensor technology that has built-in, easy-to-use software. This software permits changes to pressure, time, and function. The control panel on the face of the control unit is designed with dome keys and 4x20 digital, LCD display. The panel displays current mode, times, weight and height, comfort pressure, and other functions. For the K-4 system, the control unit provides static, alternating pressure, pulse, massage, or multiple therapies. The K-3 system provides either static or pulsating therapy. Both provide continuous LAL therapy.
Smart Support Surface forms the mattress part K-3, K-4 Expandable Mattress Systems. This surface give therapeutic support because of the high-quality, urethane-coated air cushions. The air cushions provide pulse therapy with low-interface pressures. A low-friction, low-shear producing top sheet is also urethane-coated, which makes it vapor permeable. The air cell layout has a simple, yet incredibly effect design. They are connected to the manifold and fastened to the base. Then, a top sheet is zippered to the base. All mattress components can be easily detached and cleaned.
The Expandable Mattresses have two, four position valves and the left and right foot ends of the mattress. Width expansion is on the right side and length expansion is on the left.
To rapidly inflate the mattress, press the MAX Inflate key. MAX Inflate key should also be used to provide firm support during patient ingress or egress and patient wound care, turning, and cleaning. Be sure the heel regulator valves/knobs are in the correct setting so the mattress will properly inflate. For mattress deflation, set the valves to the correct position and remove the hose from the control unit.
Whenever a caregiver is adjusting the mattress size through expanding or contracting, the straps must be loosened or tightened beforehand to ensure proper inflation or deflation.
During an emergency CPR procedure, mattresses can be quickly deflated. Or select air cushions can be removed from under the chest area by pressing a quick release button and pulling the air cushion connector.
There are two different options available: the universal mattress for the K-3 AIRE ZONE system and the universal mattress for the K-4 D3X system. Be sure to choose the one that fits provider's and patient's needs.
