K-3oem, K-4oem Expandable Mattress Systems can expand to 36, 39, 42, and 48 inches in width and 80, 84, and 88 inches in length. These measurements can be obtained via the mattress expansion regulator valves. The valve used to expand the width is on the right side, foot end of the mattress. The length expansion valve is on the left side, foot end of the mattress.
These expandable mattress systems have a built-in Heel Zone Regulator, which has four cells, to make a patient feel more comfortable during use. The pressure of the Heel Zone Regulator can be adjusted separately from the rest of the mattress if the patient needs softer or firmer heel support. To set the pressure, simply turn the Heel Knob to the correct setting.
When a caregiver expands the mattress, be sure to tighten or loosen the straps located on the top sheet. The will enable the proper mattress expansion.
K-3oem, K-4oem Expandable Mattress Systems also have the ability to rapidly deflate for emergency CPR procedures. To deflate a mattress for the purpose of a CPR procedure, pull the hose from the connector and be familiar with the instructions in the manual.
If a patient needs to be moved while the K-3oem or K-4oem Expandable Mattress System is in use, the patient does not need to be removed from the mattress. Simply turn off control unit, disconnect from the power source, and the mattress will deflate within a few seconds. Keep in mind, however, that if expandable cushions are in use, they will remain inflated.
