K-1 DERMA-KARE Digital Alternating Pressure System comes with a control unit that is simple to operate. It is a micro-controller with RTMP sensor technology. Its built-in software permits adjustments to pressure, time, and function. The unit's control panel features dome keys and bright, digital LCD display. This display shows current mode, A/P times, countdown timer, and patient comfort pressure (Soft 6 to Firm 32). Once the desired pressure is reached, the pump is usually powered off during regular use. Control Unit provides either static or alternating pressure therapy, depending on the patient's needs. A lock out key is built in to deter a patient from tampering with the settings and power switch during use. The Fowler sensor picks up patient's position and inflates the mattress to 80% higher than set pressure to eliminate patient bottoming. Even in Auto-Upright position, a patient will still be provided necessary therapy. The control unit is quiet, so the patient can go undisturbed. It is also compact and lightweight, which makes it an easy addition to a footboard.
DO NOT HEAT, STEAM AUTOCLAVE, OR IMMERSE THE CONTROL UNIT IN LIQUIDS
The Smart Support Surface (tm) of the K-1 DERMA-KARE Digital Alternating Pressure System is a therapeutic surface that is made of high-quality, urethane coated nylon cushions. These cushions are arranged 16/20 cells per mattress, which assists with effective A/P therapy and low interface pressures. An optional side bolster system is available. This system includes built-in bolsters that maintain constant air pressure. Bolsters help keep patients on the mattress if they have a tendency to intentionally roll or move. However, the bolsters can be deflated to make it easier for a patient to get in and out of the bed. The sheet on top of the mattress is low-friction and low-shear and is vapor-permeable, urethane-coated nylon. All mattress components, such as manifold, tubes and tubing assembly, air cushions, top sheet, and base are interchangeable and can be sanitized or laundered. This lightweight surface can be easily rolled up and transported via two handles or shoulder straps.
If the mattress needs to be deflated for a CPR procedure, caregiver must pull the hose from the control unit, and the system will quickly deflate. If bolsters are in place, be sure to deflate those as well with the plug at the foot of the mattress.
Patient transportation is easy with the K-1 DERMA-KARE Digital Alternating Pressure System. Simply turn off the control unit and disconnect the power cord. The mattress will deflate in seconds. If the bolsters are in place, they will stay inflated.
There are seven available options, including bariatric mattresses.
