Product Overview:

Spectrum White thermoplastic sheets are an excellent splinting material that can be used to form any type of splint as a cast alternative. This material stretches evenly for better durability and has high conformity for rough use. It has a coating that prevents it from adhering to itself or other bandaging materials so the splint is easy to mold and reuse. The coating can be removed with a solvent for a super-strong bond when it dries. When dry, Spectrum has a silky smooth finish that looks great and doesn't retain nicks or fingerprints. Multiple quantities are available of the 1/8 in. x 18 in. x 24 in. White Spectrum thermoplastic sheet so medical professionals can cover and protect large areas of the body if needed. The moldable ability of these revolutionary thermoplastic sheets allows doctors to form a sturdy cast over in injury with a bump, bruise, or swelling that will decrease over time. Each sheet is reusable so as a wound size decreases, the Spectrum White can be removed, reheated, remolded, and applied to the body for continued support.

More Information

This responsive splinting material offers great control splint after splint. When stretched, it thins evenly so it can be used to make all types of splints with intimate fit and support. Spectrum has a moderate degree of drape and conforms closely around small contours. This makes it the ideal cast alternative for a wound with swelling or bruising that decreases throughout healing. The reusable and moldable material allows doctors to reshape the thermoplastic splint when the patient has outgrown the previous mold.

Its moderate memory means splints can be reheated repeatedly without thinning. The material springs back slightly to help support weak parts during molding, and the surface is slightly tacky when warm to help hold the splint in place while molding. It is highly recommended that a medical professional assists with the reheating and molding. The traditional coating prevents accidental bonding to itself or adherence to bandages or other materials but can be removed using a solvent. The splint can be dry heated and firmly pressed together or to other materials to form a strong, permanent bond so that outriggers and other attachments stay firmly in place.

Molded splints retain moderate to firm rigidity and have a uniquely smooth and silky finish that resists fingerprinting. If pressure marks appear, they can be smoothed away by gently rubbing the surface while the splint is warm. Spectrum features unique memory and stretch that is ideal for circumferential splints, neurological splints, all hand and wrist splinting, as well as for fracture bracing, lower extremity positioning splints and pediatrics, non-weight bearing AFOs.

Allow 3 - 5 minutes of molding time to fully set up.
