The Preferred Smooth or Perforated Thermoplastic materials are ideal for easy-to-apply, customized splinting that offers proper support. This incredibly versatile splinting material is easy to use and manipulate, making it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced splinters; the highly-customizable manner of application means it can be applied in nearly any splinting situation, be it dynamic or static, for adult or pediatric positioning, and even post-burn and post-surgical care.
Minimum to moderate resistance to stretch ensures gentle, smooth motions and a closer, more comfortable fit, providing the best results. The moderate drape quickly and easily forms to the contours of the afflicted area with light to moderate pressure. The minimum to moderate memory allows the splints to be modified a few times without thinning, required less handling. Splints molded with this material maintain moderate rigidity, being flexible enough for easy application and removal yet strong enough for immobilization.
An outer powder coating offers a tacky feel to help hold the material in place without falling or pulling away. A wet bond will hold firmly in place but can also be easily pulled apart once cooled. Dry heating two surfaces with form a strong bond, and a permanent bond can be formed with a little solvent and dry heat.
