Product Overview:

Sunrise Medical's Jay Fusion Wheelchair Cushions build on the idea that a good wheelchair cushion must be both comfortable and conducive to the user's health. Designed with a specially contoured foam base and dense, polyurethane spray foam, this Jay cushion helps to reduce the negative effects of pressure over extended periods of sitting. The Jay Fusion Wheelchair Cushion's dual-cover system is water-resistant and easy to maintain and clean. Its 3DX spacer fabric also aids in the protection of the skin by promoting airflow.

More Information

The JAY cushion revolutionized the wheelchair seating industry when it debuted in the 1980s. Earlier cushions relied on a padded foam insert to provide users with comfortable seating. While foam is soft and dense, its resistance increases upon compression. What makes the JAY cushion unique is its fluid insert. Fluids always move to a state of equilibrium under load, also known as hydrostatic loading.

The JAY Fusion
Over three decades later, the JAY cushion has undergone improvements to provide wheelchair users with an even safer and more comfortable experience. The new fluid design of the JAY Fusion features a pelvic loading area (PLA) that provide a cushioned resting location for the trochanter bones, fully suspending the ischial tuberosities in the fluid.

Further, as its name implies, the Fusion combines aspects of both the J2 and J3 cushions. Like the J2, it features only one PLA size for each cushion width, thus eliminating the need for pelvic measurements. However, like the J3, the Fusion's PLA size is based on the anthropometric data gathered from average human skeletal measurements.

The JAY Fusion is an excellent choice for you if:
  • You have a history of skin breakdown
  • You are unable to shift your weight while seated
  • Your positioning requirements may change over time
  • You use your wheelchair for extended periods of time throughout the day

Several variations of the JAY Fusion are also available.

    JAY Fusion Positioning Fluid Cushion

Spotlighting JAY's signature fluid cushion technology, this new Positioning model also features adjustment options for lateral thigh, medial thigh, and lateral pelvic positioning pieces.

    JAY Fusion Reduced Profile

For those who desire a cushion with less height, the Reduced Profile model has a cushion height of fewer than 3.5 inches, making it a better option for more active users.

    JAY Fusion Core

Combines high-quality skin protection and stability at a more cost-effective price.
