The Comfyprene Pediatric Goniometer Knee Orthosis is designed to increase knee extension following surgery, injury, neurological problems, or CVA in patients with non-fixed contractures. It works in the same way as serial casting, allowing for progressive extension in 10-degree increments. The Comfyprene Pediatric Goniometer Knee Orthosis's goniometer hinge can be set to allow the knee the desired range of motion; adjust it using the allen wrench that can be stored under the orthosis cover. Pediatric sizes only; choose color. This product is nonreturnable unless returned unused within thirty days.

More Information

The Comfyprene Pediatric Goniometer Knee Orthosis is only recommended for patients with non-fixed contractures (contracted joints that can still be flexed or extended). Knee contractures are classified as follows:
5-30 degrees = mild contracture
30-90 degrees = moderate contracture
90 degrees plus = severe contracture

The Therapeutic uses of the Comfyprene Pediatric Goniometer Knee Orthosis:
Graduated extension of the Knee
Treatment of non-fixed contractures of the Knee
Helps restrict arthritic changes and deformity related to neuromuscular impairment
Positions flaccid knee in functional position
Maintains skin integrity by absorbing moisture, allowing air circulation and preventing skin maceration

Advantages of the Comfyprene Pediatric Goniometer Knee Orthosis:
The splint is adjustable and re-adjustable to individual patients without the use of heat or tools
The splint can be graduated up to increase knee extension

The splint straps are foam lined for comfort and to prevent pressure areas

 Comfyprene Pediatric Goniometer Knee Orthosis Picture 

 Instead of removable terrycloth covers, the Comfyprene™ splint inserts are covered with soft neoprene and headliner material, which creates a slim profile for everyday comfort. Splints are adjustable and re-adjustable using the Comfy™ patented reinforced spine. Straps may be positioned anywhere on the splint for optimal fit. Excellent for use after sports injuries, removal of casts, sports medicine or for arthritic patient's support of the weakened extremity.

 

All Comfyprene™ Splints come standard with five attachable and removable hygiene liners. Unlike the traditional Comfy Splint, there are no removable covers on Comfyprene™ Splints.

 

Contra-Indications:

  • Patient has circulatory problems
  • Pressure areas or skin irritations appear
  • Patient has persistent pain in the area treated
  • Petient has increased edema, redness or blisters
  • Patient has fixed flexion contractures
