The Wheelchair Hip Bolster by Comfort Company is a rectangular cushion that can be placed on either the right or left side of a wheelchair to reduce the wheelchair width for greater hip stability. It works by centrally positioning the hips while comfortably restricting the width of the seat. If more width needs to be taken away than one cushion can provide, adding another to the other side will further create a supportive wheelchair seat. The outer layer is a Solace fabric cover that utilizes multi-dimensional stretch to alleviate pressure caused by bony prominences. Another use for the cushion would be to protect the user from the sides of the chair. At times of a lot of movement, the material of the chair may begin to irritate the user and this cushion will provide a more pleasurable experience. The Wheelchair Hip Bolster features a strapping system that wraps around the wheelchair™s back in order to secure it into place.
