The Alternating Overlay from Vive Health is an innovative solution to the all-too-familiar problem of pressure ulcer development in patients who spend extended periods of time in bed. This pressure pad is made with latex-free vinyl and is compatible with most standard-size hospital beds. The pad is composed of (130) heat-sealed air pockets that inflate with air when the pad is in use. When a patient is lying on top of the pressure pad, the air pockets cycle their inflation levels over time to ensure the patient does not stay set in one fixed pressure distribution for an extended period of time. This promotes healthy circulation, reduces accumulated pressure, and prevents skin breakdown, which all serve to significantly improve patient comfort and reduce the risk of developing pressure ulcers.

Vive Health's Alternating Overlay is a dynamic tool for preventing pain, discomfort, and pressure ulcer development in patients who spend extended periods of time in bed. The pressure pad uses consistent air circulation through its (130) air pockets to actively divert pressure away from common pressure points and maintain an even, comfortable distribution of pressure.

The air cycling of the pressure pad is controlled by a variable air pressure pump that operates by providing multiple air pressure levels over 6-minute cycles. The pump is designed to be easy to use and can even be attached to the base or armrest of the hospital bed on which the pad is used. Additionally, the air pump is specially designed to run as quietly as possible to ensure a peaceful night's rest without distracting others.
