Pressure ulcers are caused by large amounts of pressure and friction on certain points of the body that make the most contact with bedding surfaces. Bedridden patients are susceptible to developing pressure ulcers, which can be difficult to heal when pressure cannot be relieved. The Protekt
TM Aire 1500 mattress pad has 130 air cells that fill with air from the included air pump on an alternating basis. This redistributes pressure to different parts of the body, relieving vulnerable areas and preventing pressure ulcers while allowing existing ones to heal. Users can adjust the airflow, allowing more control over the pressure redistribution. This also allows the mattress pad to be inflated to a level at which the patient is most comfortable. The air pump is very simple to use and can be suspended from included bed hooks for easy access. The control switch lights up when the mattress is plugged in, making it easy for caregivers to see that it's working. The cycle time between each air fill is 10 minutes.
The Protekt
TM Aire 1500 mattress overlay is made of medical-grade, fire retardant PVC which can easily be cleaned using a disinfectant. The pad has a flap on each end and attached straps to make it easy to secure to the bed. It has a weight capacity of 300 lbs and an 11.5 gauge thickness.
