The Steady Spoon with Built Up Handle is designed to assist a child or an adult who may have challenges with feeding themselves. The weighted spoon has a counterweight on the end of the handle and a swiveling bowl that will stay horizontal and level, no matter what angle or position of the user's arm, or the amount of hand/arm tremors.
Designed to provide the user a more enjoyable and independent eating experience, the steady spoon has a built-up handle that allows an individual with a weak or unsteady grasp to grab and hold the spoon easily and with more confidence. For individuals with little or no hand strength for grasping and holding, the spoon's handle also has a hook and loop closure strap that will easily and comfortably attach the spoon½s handle to the user's hand for them to enjoy an independent eating experience.
The steady spoon's counterweight and built-up handle combine to add proprioceptive input for individuals with a pervasive developmental disorder (PPD), which is a disorder that creates difficulties with processing external information from the five senses as well as from the sense of movement and personal positional sense.
The spoon is dishwasher safe up to 220-degree Fahrenheit, is latex-, BPA-, and phthalates-free, and is available in a pediatric or adult size.
