What does the stiffening plate do?

Per our warehouse the stiffening plate adds additional stability to the tray. It does this by placing a counterweight on the sliding base.

Scotty Kristen Wheelchair Trays are portable tray systems that put your work surface where you need it, when you need it. Made of advanced, lightweight composites, the Kristen Tray is highly durable even under heavy usage.

With easily removable connectors, the Kristen Wheelchair Tray ensures you can take it with you or leave it at home. Easily adapted to many positions and a wide variety of uses or needs. Additionally, choose from our accessories: a fishing rod mount, umbrella mount or even a cupholder. Accessories are listed above under Options/Accessories.

We highly recommend the links that are angle adjustable at both ends, so that the tray can be infinitely adjusted in any situation. Always measure the distance between mounting surface and desired height of the tray to place materials in your ideal working and viewing range. Links are not height adjustable.

Step 1- Select your Pedestal
Select either a straight pedestal, standard with the Kristen, or one of two optional pedestals. One with an adjustable link at one end or one with an adjustable link at both ends for the ultimate in flexibility. Choose the height desired.

Ive had one of these trays since 1998! Some of the plastic parts are a bit worn but its still usable. I wanted to order a new one several years ago when a laundry basket with a heavy load of wet laundry cracked the tray, but was told by the dealer that sold me the first one that they were no longer being made. I was sad, and could hardly function in the kitchen. No other tray I tried was as good as my Scotty tray. Fortunately, my engineer husband was able to creat a new top. I was overjoyed when I spotted my tray online and ordered it right away! Its the best thing I own and I cant function in the kitchen or at parties or shopping or at kitty nap time without it. My cat likes to take naps on a towel on top of the tray (the clear top freaks her out). Dont stop making these-they are the best! Now I can help my friends get their own.

I loved the looks and mechanism of the tray. The mounting block under the book shelf was separated when it arrived. What type of adhesive do you use to attach it?
