Product Overview:

Houston Enzyme's No-Fenol helps digest highly phenolic compounds found in fruits and vegetables. These good, nutritious and anti-carcinogenic compounds can often cause a flushing effect, with red cheeks and ears because some of the polyphenolic compounds are not being processed properly once they are in the gut. In order to be absorbed into the body, the compound needs to be deglycosylated, or the sugar group attached to the compound needs to be removed so that the compound can be correctly absorbed and metabolized. No-Fenol does exactly that, helping to break down foods more thoroughly and helps to allow the processing of the polyphenolic compounds.

More Information

No-Fenol and Autism Spectrum Disorder
A disproportionately large amount of children and adults on the PDD spectrum have difficulty processing polyphenolic compounds. This often presents itself as behavioral problems and physical symptoms such as red ears and cheeks and dark circles under the eyes. Although the reason behind this phenomenon is unknown, it is though that polyphenolic compounds become trapped in some part of the metabolic cycle, particularly the part of the metabolic cycle involved in various detoxification pathways.

Recent research indicates that polyphenolic compounds are modified by the addition of carbohydrate groups to their structures, which may inhibit their crossing into cells and being metabolized. No-Fenol is made up of broad spectrum enzymes that remove carbohydrate groups from the polyphenols, thus allowing for normal processing by the detoxification pathways.

No-Fenol allows for the consumption of polyphenolic foods. Xylanase, a major enzyme found in No-Fenol, breaks down the structural components of plant cell walls, which are primarily very complex carbohydrates.

No-Fenol Filler
No-Fenol capsules contain cellulose/medium-chain triglyceride oil (MCT oil) that is used as filler. MCT oil is derived from palm oil and the cellulose is derived from European Spruce trees. The capsule is also made of cellulose.

No-Fenol Contraindications
No-Fenol may not be appropriate for those with known allergies to enzyme proteins, though nonspecific mold allergies do not necessarily preclude use of fungal enzymes. Consult your medical doctor for further advise, and err on the side of caution. Those with known anaphylactic allergic reactions to fungal proteins should not ingest fungal-derived enzymes.

Other Ingredients in No-Fenol Capsules:
Vegetable capsule (cellulose and water), cellulose and Medium Chain Triglycerides. No added sugar, starch, dairy, soy, wheat, yeast, gluten, nuts, artificial flavors, or animal derivatives. CereCalase is a registered trademark of National Enzyme Company.

Other Ingredients in No-Fenol Chewable Tablets:
Fructose, natural pomegranate flavor, hydroxypropyl cellulose, natural raspberry flavor, magnesium stearate, citric acid, silica, monoammonium glycyrrhizinate (flavor enhancer from licorice), sodium chloride. No added starch, dairy, yeast, wheat gluten, corn, nuts, preservatives, artificial colors, artificial flavors, or animal derivatives.

No-Fenol Dosage
No upper limit has been established for oral enzyme supplementation. Animal studies indicate that extremely large enzyme doses may be ingested without toxicity or ill effect. No upper limit has been established for enzyme dosing, and animal studies found no toxicity at dosing as high as 80,000 FXU per kilogram of body weight per day for 13 weeks. No-Fenol is recommended primarily for those with known sensitivities to phenolic compounds.

A dose of 1/2 to 1 capsule (or 1 to 2 chewable tablets) usually suffices for most meals, but not necessarily with every meal. Some have found satisfactory results with once or twice per day dosing, indicating that optimal dosing may be dependent on many factors. High doses can decrease firmness of stools. If stools become too soft, decrease dosage or add Zyme Prime.

Feel free to vary the dosage of No-Fenol based on content and size of meal. Those meals higher in phenols may call for higher doses of No-Fenol. For reasons of practicality, no more than 3 capsules should be taken at one time.

Dose according to how much food is eaten, not based on age or body weight. Two chewables equals one No-Fenol capsule.

Storing No-Fenol
Store No-Fenol Chewables in a cool, dry place, away from direct light and humid conditions. Do not refrigerate. Keep at room temperature. Cold does not harm the enzymes, but most refrigerators are high humidity environments. Freezing is acceptable and encouraged for long-term storage.

FAQ For No-Fenol Multi-Enzyme for Digestion of Phenolic Foods and Fiber - Case of 6

? Have a question about this product? Click here to ask us!
What is the dosing for No-Fenol?
Answer: No one does is suitable for all. Dosing is not calculated based on age or body weight, but by how much is eaten in any one meal. Large meals or meals with foods that many not be well-tolerated may require higher levels of enzymes. No toxicity occurs at any dosing level for enzymes so you can take many with no worry of side effects. Houston Enzymes encourages some experimentation to find the amount that works best for you. 1/2 to 1 capsule per meal (or 1 to 2 chewables) seems to be fine for most, but you may try more as needed.
Can I take No-Fenol with my medications?
Answer: No-Fenol can be taken with most medications. However, caution should be exercised when using sustained-release medications that use cellulose as part of the time-release mechanism, as it may affect dosing. It should be noted that no study has yet been carried out to determine whether this actions actually occurs.
Will taking oral enzymes cause my pancreas to stop making enzymes?
Answer: No. Studies have shown little or no effect of oral enzymes on pancreatic enzyme production. The pancreas enzyme production is not regulated by a feedback system, and has no way of determining whether you are taking oral enzymes.
