The LUMEX Select Convertible Mattress is a pressure displacement and redistribution system that uses air circulation and inflation to assist in the prevention of pressure ulcers and other bedridden caused ailments. The mattress has the ability to perform a static air function as well as an alternating pressure mode and can quickly be switched between the two of them, depending on the patient½s needs. Inside the mattress are eight non-circular cylinders that help prevent rolling or gapping. The cylinders are completely enclosed in a fiber mesh sleeve that keeps them in the correct place. The air control unit has a simple interface and is very quiet during operation. Each program is set for a 10 minute cycle for optimum prevention and treatment and to eliminate any guesswork by the caregiver. The top layer is made of a 2.5 thick hybrid Visco-elastic material that does not raise the body heat like other Visco-elastic materials found in other similar mattresses. The outer stretch cover is fluid resistant, breathable, and friction reducing. This further helps to reduce the risk of ailments such as skin macerations from prolonged exposure to moisture.
