The Visco Gel Polymer Technology allows air to circulate through open cells in the foam so patients' skin can be kept cool and dry. This technology siphons moisture away from the patient's skin much faster than traditional foam mattresses for a more effective pressure ulcer prevention method. The gel polymers help the Protekt 500 Pressure Relieving Foam Mattress keep its shape for a more durable product. The mattress's heel section slopes down to remove pressure from the heel, redistributing it to the less vulnerable leg, and the PTSS Rail system provides additional support for transfers and sitting on the edge of the bed.

The Protekt 500 Pressure Relieving Foam Mattress with (VGPT) ^TM Visco Gel Polymer Technology offers a revolutionary support surface that provides unprecedented pressure redistribution, rapid heat dissipation, and vast increases in breathability compared to traditional foam. The sloped heel redistributes pressure from the heel to the entire leg, and precision cut air pockets in the mattress allow deeper submersion and increased air circulation.

VGPT ^TM is open-cell Visco memory foam infused with gel polymers. Designed for clinical superiority as well as patient comfort, some of the many benefits of VGPT ^TM include:

The heel section of the Protekt 500 Pressure Relieving Foam Mattress provides unparalleled pressure mapping results. Designed to guard the vulnerable heel area against incapacitating reoccurring pressure ulcers, the heel section of the Protekt^TM 500 utilizes a 30-degree slope to redistribute pressure to the entire lower leg. The top layer is finished with Lura-Quilt^TM, a patented, highly resilient aerated foam that keeps skin cool and dry.

The Protekt 500 Pressure Relieving Foam Mattress is available with optional PTSS rails. The PTSS is a side rail that is flush with the top of the mattress. This side rail is comprised of a much firmer foam that assists ingress and egress from the mattress by adding support to the patient and helping to prevent falls.
