More Information

Long Arm Precut Splinting protects and immobilizes the elbow, forearm, and wrist in order to treat humeral/forearm fractures, elbow arthroplasty, and other orthopedic conditions. With a large, pre-cut design, time is saved from having to design and cut the splint. Long Arm Precut Splinting is available in Solaris or Preferred. The Preferred Solaris Splinting material provides a controlled stretch and drape that allows for firm handling of the rigid, conforming splint.

Sizing
Long Arm Precut Splinting fits a wide range of sizes, from large to small arms. To fit smaller arm sizes, position the arm and measure from the distal palmar crease to the mid-humerus. Trim the length accordingly.

Splinting for the Hand Only
The hand portion can be cut off at the wrist area if wrist support is not needed.

Molding
Long Arm Precut Splinting can be molded with the elbow flexed or extended in various positions and applied posteriorly or anteriorly.

Long Arm Precut Splinting Measurements
Dimensions: 23" (58cm) in length, 8 1/2" (22cm) across the humeral width, and 5 3/4" (15cm) across the palmar edge.

Solaris Splinting Material Resistance to Stretch
With a moderate to maximum resistance to stretch, Solaris Splinting Material can be stretched and pulled around curves without thinning or growing out of control. Using Solaris, the limb can be held in position while the splinting material is stretched to form the splint.

Solaris Drape
Solaris Splinting Material has a moderate drape. It takes on the contours of the hand for an intimate fit using only moderate pressure. Its thinner material follows the curves of the hand and fingers with minimal handling.

Solaris Memory
Solaris has a moderate memory that allows the material to spring back slightly when warm.

Solaris Rigidity
Solaris material has a maximum rigidity. Splints made with the material hold their shape against the pull of strong dynamic components and against hypertonicity.

Solaris Bonding
Uncoated Solaris provides a slightly sticky surface when warm to keep material in place for an intimate fit. A permanent bond is achieved by applying dry heat and pinching it together firmly. No solvent is needed.

Solaris Surface Finish
Solaris resists fingerprinting. Fingerprints and other marks disappear or can be smoothed away by rubbing the surface gently while the splint is warm. It leaves a sealed, smooth edge when cut warm.

Solaris Applications
Solaris is ideal for abnormal tone conditions or joint contractures when patients are unable to cooperate. Its unique qualities make Solaris perfect for upper and lower extremity positioning splints and pediatric, non-weightbearing AFOs. The combined drape with controlled, resistive stretch of Solaris allows aggressive, firm handling to form a rigid splint that conforms perfectly to the body.

Solaris Working Time (1/8")
Solaris takes 4 to 6 minutes to form and harden after softening in 160 degrees F (71 degrees C) water.
