The LinkSwitch is a switch-latch timer that enables individuals to activate battery-operated devices using any adaptive switch with a standard plug. Simply plug both the switch (such as the Taction Pad or Pal Pad) and the toy or other battery operated device into the LinkSwitch, then touch the switch to activate. All LinkSwitches come with dual-channel modes and can add latching, timing, and reverse timing capabilities to battery-operated devices. Includes one 9-volt battery.
NEW feature: Use the "Media Mode" on the LinkSwitch to activate a Digital Book Player from your state's Braille and Talking Book Services. With the LinkSwitch connected to the player through a Swifty, the activation of a single switch turns the digital book player on for an adjustable amount of time. The player then turns off, requiring the user to activate the switch again to continue to listen to the recording. This feature is great for anyone who needs processing time. See how this works. Also useful for movies or other multimedia on your computer.
Modes:
- Direct - Continually activate the switch to keep the toy on. The device or toy will turn off as soon as the switch is released.
Latched- Activating the switch turns the toy or device on. Pressing the switch again turns the toy or device off. Turn radios and lamps on and off for extended periods of time with this mode.
Timed - Has a "Seconds" and "Minutes" setting that will turn the device or toy on for a period of time determined by the position of the On/Off knob. For example, to turn the toy on for 30 seconds, set the mode knob to Timed sec, and the On/Off knob to the number 30.
Reversed Timed - Has two settings, seconds and minutes. When the switch is activated, a delay, determined by the position of the On/Off knob, occurs before the toy is activated. For example, set the controls to five minutes, Reverse Timed mode. Activate the switch. A delay of five minutes occurs, after which the toy or device turns on. Activate the switch again to turn the toy off. This mode works only on the red (left) side.
Media Mode - Used when one needs to control certain media-playing devices so that they have a timed play function. Such devices include movie-playing software on computers and Digital Talking Book Players (DTBP). DTBP's and some media-playing software have the ability to pause, and resume playing simply by pressing a button or key, such as the SPACE key.
It is easy to reinforce listening during reading. As this book was read, the user was required to press the switch when the word "pig" was heard. The LinkSwitch was set using its timing mode.
