More Information

Sixty-seven million Americans are diagnosed with high blood pressure, and half of those people are not in control of their disease. This has led to approximately 1,000 deaths a day and costs the US over 46 billion dollars in prevention and treatment.

Blood Pressure Monitors are important for monitoring blood pressure levels. A blood pressure monitor measures blood pressure by applying a pressure that is greater than the pressure in the veins. A read-out is then given.

Oscillometric Method
The Economy Automated Blood Pressure Monitor uses an electric pressure sensor with a numerical readout of the blood pressure. The electrically operated pump and valve fits on the preferred upper arm. The cuff inflates to a higher pressure than the systolic arterial pressure and then reduces to below the diastolic pressure. Once the blood flow is present, but restricted, the cuff pressure will vary periodically in synchrony with the cyclic expansion and contraction of the brachial artery. The values of systolic and diastolic pressure are computed from the raw data, using an algorithm. Instead of recording readings acoustically, the oscillometric method records and evaluates the oscillations of the arteries.

WHO Blood Pressure Classification Indicator
The BP3600 Economy Automated Blood Pressure Monitor is equipped with a classification indicator based on established guidelines for the World Health Organization. Test results are indicated on a color coded chart on the monitor unit.
