Comfort Cool Thumb CMC Restriction Splints and Abduction Orthoses

The Comfort Cool® Thumb CMC Restriction Splints and Abduction Orthoses are made of thin, perforated neoprene and a terry cloth liner that encourages air flow to keep the skin cool and comfortable in the face of extended wear. A contoured neoprene strap wraps around the thumb CMC join and first metacarpal to directly support the CMC joint; the strap can be adjusted as needed to suit your hand size and shape. Though designed specifically for individuals with osteoarthritis and medial subluxation of the thumb CMC joint, these splints and orthoses can be used effectively for a variety of conditions; in addition to joint support, the orthoses offer gentle compression that can help relieve pain and discomfort associated with CMC joint arthritis, instability, tendinitis, etc.

An optional, moldable insert for the contoured thumb strap is also available; this insert can be microwaved to soften the thermoplastic material and then molded precisely along the thenar eminence crease. A wrist model is available that features an extension to provide additional support to the wrist; the support utilizes the Neoloop to provide compression for the wrist, while the pull-through strap ensures it is easy to apply.

To further ensure a proper fit for the individual user, all stitching in both the restriction and abduction orthoses is reinforced, allowing the material to be trimmed beneath the thumb joint as needed; the material is also completely latex-free and anti-microbial.
