Product Overview:

Just like Southpaw's Bolster Swing, the Bilateral Bolster Swing helps develop the vestibular system by facilitating a calm swinging motion that affects the inner ear and balances the senses while also helping to develop bilateral integration, as well as posture and balance. The difference between the Bilateral Bolster Swing and the Standard Bolster Swing is that instead of one rope attached to the Bolster Swing Body, the Bilateral Bolster Swing includes 2 ropes that can be grasped with both hands for better stability.

All ropes are covered in a protective vinyl tubing that prevents rope burns to the hands. Choose from a standard sized Bilateral Bolster Swing or the smaller Pony size. The rotational safety bar device can be purchased with the Bilateral Bolster Swing, or you can elect to just purchase the Bilateral Bolster Swing body only. The Body-only-Bilateral Bolster Swing can be attached to an existing upper works and bar if you have the standard swing.
Notice: This unique custom fabricated item is made-to-order using a "Just in Time" manufacturing process. This is designed to keep your cost lower, but may require an additional delay due to global shortages: up to a 6-8 Week lead time before your product ships.
Note: This product is for sale in the United States only and is ineligible for International Shipping.

More Information

Improves Bilateral Integration
Therapists can use the Bilateral Bolster Swing to develop the use of both sides of the body simultaneously. Sitting in a straddled position over the swing, the therapist can allow the client to reach for items. This exercise will cause the client to use both halves of the upper and lower body to accomplish the goal. The ability to use gross and fine motor skills are all improved with bilateral integration exercises using the Bilateral Bolster Swing.

Improves Posture, Balance, and Coordination
Children with Sensory Processing Disorder often have difficulty maintaining balance and will shy away from activities that may challenge balance skills. The Bilateral Bolster Swing challenges the client's sense of balance and requires a certain amount of coordination to sit on. With height adjustability, the client can be positioned so their feet are placed on or off the floor. Exercises and movement on the therapeutic swing helps improve difficulties associated with unsteady surfaces. By challenging stability, the therapist can build up a tolerance where the client can learn to self correct posture and therefore improve balance abilities with the swing.
