The Acta-Relief Back Support for Wheelchairs by Comfort Company is a patent-pending wheelchair back system that is designed to eliminate high-pressure areas on the patient's back. This support is structured to accommodate a wide variety of back conditions and hypersensitivity, including those with deformities. There are adjustable straps that are flexible and allow the Acta-Relief to offset the center of pressure and most effectively reduce pressure points on the spine. This back support is perfect because it aggressively molds to the individual's anatomy to best support a number of seating positions from upright seating all the way to an extremely rotated back. Height, depth, and angle of recline are all fully adjustable and the system only needs 1.5 of space on each cane in order to mount. The Acta-Relief is fitted with an oversized aluminum shell cut-out that allows deeper immersion into the back pad in order to be suitable for a wide range of patients. It is also equipped with BOA advantage technology that allows micro-adjustability of the back tension in two places to best fit each user's needs and for the convenience of the caregiver. This technology is very easy to use and relieves pressure from bony prominences such as the shoulder blades. Thanks to the open back frame, caregivers can make adjustments to the tension without removing the user, thus reducing the amount of time spent during the fitting by eliminating the need for transfers during this process. Each turn of the BOA knobs will adjust one millimeter of tension which allows for a precise fit; fortunately, once the fit is achieved it is locked into place until changed by the caregiver again.
The thick Visco surface layer adds comfort and support while contouring to the patient½s body during use. There are two cover options available, each of which is latex-free materials. The Comfort-Tek cover is fluid-resistant, smooth, and easy to clean making it the perfect option for those prone to spills or accidents. The Stretch-Air cover utilizes a comfortable stretch for breathability and heat dispersion. This keeps the user comfortable during long-term use.
This hardware is very easy to use and can even be installed within minutes. It can be fitted to wheelchairs with tubing of 3/4, 7/8, and 1. There is a quick-release feature that allows the backrest to be removed from the chair vertically within a few seconds.
