How it Works
The Ypsilon FLOW ComfortPad works as a sling between the leg and the Ypsilon V shaped FLOW wings. This new and unique design cradles, moves with, and supports the leg. Wearing the ComfortPad with the Ypsilon helps take pressure off the shin bone that can be caused by tibia protuberances and the AFO itself, which can happen even when properly aligned.
This precautionary measure works more effectively than the common "double sock" method that is often recommended. Studies have shown that this method only relieves 25% of pressure off the tibia. While the sock method causes movement between the 2 fabric layers, the more comfortable ComfortPAD creates a small gap between the leg and brace to prevent pressure from being placed on the skin and shin bone.
Need for Protection
The ComfortPad protects the skin from damage that can occur when active or even during everyday use. Used as an interface between the AFO and user's leg, soft tissue protection is provided and soreness is minimized. It's also very important that diabetics protect their skin integrity. With the protective ComforPad, users are more compliant with wearing the AFO.
Sizing
The Ypsilon FLOW ComfortPad has a One Size Fits All design that accommodates Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large AFO sizes.
