Product Overview:

Constructed with a sturdy yet lightweight Kydex® plastic and comfortable synthetic sheepskin liner, the Multi Podus Ankle Foot Orthosis is a cost-effective solution for treating foot drop, foot and ankle contracture, and hip rotation issues for bed-confined patients. The Multi Podus features a "floating heel"½ design that helps to mitigate pressure and friction in the heel, while a dynamic flex action applies continuous counterforce pressure to the sole of the foot. Hip and leg alignment is achieved through the application of the side-position rotator bar and the adjustable toe post reduces pressure on the toes.

The Ambulator Attachment (rubber sole) is not usable with this product. Do not purchase this product if you are looking to use it alongside the Ambulator Attachment. The only products that the Ambulator Attachment will work with are the MPO 2000 Active Foot Orthosis with Ambulatory Attachment and the MPO Active with Ambulatory Attachment which are 02MP and 09MP respectively.

More Information

The RCAI Multi Podus® Orthosis (MPO) with Transfer Attachment has a synthetic sheepskin liner with tan straps is also known as the "Original L'Nard Boot." This cost-effective system replaces most other equipment used for bed positioning and functional lower extremity alignment. By eliminating pressure or friction on the heel, the MPO® enhances blood circulation which is vital to healing, while the dynamic flex action supplies continuous counterforce to the plantar surface of the foot assisting in the correction of foot drop, foot and ankle contractures and deformity. In addition, the MPO® is equipped with an adjustable toe post that helps to relieve pressure on the toes and can be positioned to the side in the treatment of malleolus and lateral ulcers.

Not exactly like the original L;Nard Multi-Podus. Padding is not real sheepskin and plastic edges are sharp. Quality is lacking.

The boot is an excellent boot. My husband is paralyzed and has to wear these at night to prevent "drop foot". The only request is that it would be nice to add another arm on the other side to hold the boot in place because his foot tends to fall to the other side. Overall excellent boot.

I worked for 14 years as a pediatric rehab nurse at NYU langone Medical Center, Rusk Institute in NYC Whenever we would get a patient who had the potential or already had footdrop, PT would order this splint. Also, the bent out heel insured the heel was suspended , touching only sheepskin. This absolutely helped heal any sores, and prevented them from happening in the first place. Excellent for anyone paralyzed, or for some reason has limited mobility in a leg, or legs.Several times, co panned would ask us to "Pilot" other splints, that cost less, but they were not as good, and in the end LESS cost effective in the long run. Because in health care, a problem PREVENTED, costs much less than treating an issue. When my favorite cousin broke her hip, in NY, and I had moved to Florida, I was heartbroken that I couldnt co e to her. When she told me she had a decubitus ulcer on the heel of that leg, because she wasnt turned enough, I was incensed. But at least I was able to order and send this splint to her.
