The Tracheolife Filter HME with Built In Oxygen Port is a humidifying filter that helps prevent complications from drying of the respiratory mucosa. A tracheostomy tube bypasses the use of the nose and mouth for humidification, so an HME is needed during tracheal care, to supplement the moisture. This helps prevent mucus plugs and keeps secretions thin. The Tracheolife Filter HME with Built In Oxygen Port fits onto the end of the trach tube, and it also helps to keep small particles from entering the trach tube.

The Tracheolife Filter HME with Built In Oxygen Port, made by Shiley, is a single use heat and moisture exchanger (HME) device, complete with oxygen port positioned to allow heating and humidification of all inspired gases. A collection chamber ensures functionality is not compromised in the presence of sputum. The tracheal care piece is easily replaced without the need for assembly. A central port allows for suctioning and sampling to be performed without removing the HME. The Tracheolife Filter HME with Built In Oxygen Port, which uses an ISO standard 15mm fitting, is supplied clean and individually packaged.

Would not be without them. If you wear a trach and have problems with secretions sticking in your airway, using this filter breaks them up and makes it easy to cough them out.

For anyone who wears a trach, this is a must have. Every year, I would end up in the hospital one or two times because I would be so dried out and my airway would be cracked, dry, and bleeding. These filters totally put a stop to that and keep your airway nice and moisturized. I hope the person who invented these was able to know how many people he/she has helped.

So thankful I found this website. This is my second order for the tracheolife filters. I use to end up in the hospital as a result from drying out, and these filters are absolutely marvelous. No more drying out. I will always purchase them. RehabMart sure takes care of trach patients by providing supplies that we need.
