What Is Detensor Spinal Traction?
The result of decades of research, the Detensor method of treatment focuses on stretching the spinal column in order to relieve the vertebral discs of pressure and to ease muscle tension. Unlike older methods of spinal stretching that involved the use of straps and weights, the Detensor method relies on a minimal yet effective segmented design to encourage the distension of the musculature and ligaments. The passing years revealed additional positive effects as well. The continuously involved ribs produce not only traction force but lead to an active massage of the connective tissue; to the support and maintenance of inherent body rhythms; to the improvement of biomechanics; to an increase in lung volume; and even to deeper sleep.
Directions for Use
These instructions are to be followed from the onset of acute pain, e.g., acute/sciatica.
Each session should last 45 to 60 minutes:
Week1: Three to four (3-4) sessions per day
Week 2: Two to three (2-3) sessions per day
Weeks 3 and 4: Two (2) sessions per day
Thereafter, sessions should be performed once a day before retiring to bed.
The Spinal Fixation Traction Mat must only be used when lying down in the supine position while on a solid base, preferably the floor. It should not be used for overnight sleeping or for longer than one-hour sessions. Some users may initially experience extra discomfort, but this generally subsides over time. It is important to use the functional lower leg support, as any alterations to the recommended leg height may increase pain, alter traction force, or restrict circulation. Following the end of a session, an uncomfortable sensation may be felt while standing. This is due to reloading pressure back on the spine and will dissipate shortly.
The system's design allows for air circulation, so users are advised to cover up with a blanket to help achieve a deep, relaxed state. Light and natural clothing (no synthetics) should be worn to maximize traction and avoid slipping. This item is temporarily out of stock.
