Product Overview:

The SMOOV Electric Power Assist for Manual Wheelchairs by Alber USA is an innovative tool that attaches to the back end of a wheelchair to allow users to add automatic movement to their chair. The device is designed to be easily installed thanks to its clamp-on mounting system, which allows users to attach and detach the power assist device as needed. Best of all, installation takes little to no time and can be completed by a single person. Once attached, the device is operated using an easy-to-use control unit, which allows users to activate and deactivate the device at the push of a button; they can also adjust their speed by turning the control unit. These thoughtful design features give users full control and ensure smooth, safe, and easy movement.

Do you have a non-folding wheelchair?

If your wheelchair is non-folding and has a straight-bar frame (a straight bar running the width of your chair, underneath the seat), then you're good to go and the SMOOV is already compatible with your wheelchair!

Do you have a folding wheelchair?

If you have a folding wheelchair with a cross-brace frame (a bar in the shape of an "X" running the width of your chair, underneath the seat), the SMOOV will still fit your needs! You'll need an adapter, which will create a straight bar between your rear wheels, to which the SMOOV will be able to attach. In order to determine your ideal adapter size, you or an assistant will need to measure the width between your rear wheels' "quick release" mechanisms. Then, send an email to rfq@rehabmart.com so we can be sure to include it in your order! Note: Adapter pricing will be available via quote only.

Alber USA's SMOOV Electric Power Assist for Manual Wheelchairs is a dynamic utility device that provides automatic wheelchair movement for traditional, non-electric wheelchairs. The device is designed around the concept of providing broad functionality in a wide array of situations. With this in mind, the SMOOV's rechargeable battery pack allows it to provide an impressive 12-mile travel range before requiring recharge.

While on the move, the device is able to easily manage all terrains (both indoors and outdoors), as well as hills and slopes up to a 16% grade. In fact, the SMOOV can even overcome curbs without issue. This makes it a must-have item for travel while in a wheelchair, whether that travel is on gravel, sidewalk, dirt, carpet, or more. And when the device is not needed, it is equipped with a top-mounted handle and weighs just 16-pounds, which makes it easy to take along on the go (even if not in use).

What does the free SMOOV app do?

Answer: It can connect to iOS or Android. You can adjust the driving mode and settings on the fly and also keep an eye on battery life, range, speed, trips, and more.

Can the SMOOV be rented?

Answer: Currently, it is not available for rent.

How easy is it to transport and store my wheelchair with the SMOOV?

Answer: It is very easy. It mounts and removes seamlessly (docks and undocks). Great with a rigid chair. For a folding chair, the only step required is to remove the axle expansion mounting tube, which takes only seconds.

Is there a warranty?

Answer: The Smoov has a 2 year Limited Manufacturer Warranty in case of defects or part malfunction.

is it suitable for charging at 220 volts, 50Hz? If yes, Is it available with a European standard plug?

Answer: The mains voltage is 100...240 VAC, 50...60 Hz. With regards to the plug, it is type C and you may use an adapter for it to be converted into a European standard plug.
