Shove-a-lugs Grip Attachments are recommended for users with arthritic, painful, deformed, or very weak hands.
Not recommended for users unable to lift their arms, or who have visual deficits, poor safety awareness, fragile skin, weakness on one side of the body, impaired sensation of the hands, or any other conditions that may impair the ability to perceive obstacles and move the hands quickly when necessary.
Using Shove-a-lugs Grip Attachments adds 1 in. to each side of the chair, for a 2 in. increase in total chair width. Rotating the lug outward will increase ground clearance by .25 in. If current door clearance is slight, you will most likely be unable to use Shove-a-lugs.
The attachments are designed with a rounded palm contact area which distributes pressure on the palm during the push phase, and minimizes pressure at any given point. The side where the finger pads make contact is less rounded, so it can be gripped with the fingers for stopping or propelling in reverse. The surface has no crevices or seams that a fingernail could get stuck in.
