What are Stair Lift Systems?

Stair lift systems carry users up and down staircases along a sturdy, metal line through the use of an electrically-powered motor running beneath the chair. Most systems can be installed both indoors and outdoors and can carry as much as 350 pounds. These lifts serve a diverse field of customers, ranging from patients with lower body injuries and wheelchair-bound patients to senior citizens who feel unsafe or unable to climb the stairs in their home.

How do I know which Stair Lift System is for me?

Most stair lift systems come with multiple options that the user may choose from to customize the product to his/her exact needs. Rehabmart is proud to offer reliable stair lift systems from trusted medical product manufacturers such as Harmar Mobility. Some of the many customization options in stair lift systems are seen below:

Lift Model
The choice of stair lift model comes down to whether the lift will be installed indoors or outdoors, as the outdoor models come equipped with precautions to protect them from the elements.

Staircase Mounting Side
This option is simple but critically important. The lift must be installed on the wall side of a staircase. For this reason, lifts that install on the left or right side of the staircase are available.

Upholstery Color and Fabric
This customization option comes down to simple comfort and appearance, as most stair lifts come with multiple color and fabric options for the seat.

Seat Customizations
Having the right seat for the user is vital to the user’s comfort during the lifting process. With this in mind, most stair lifts come with options such as wider seats, flip-up arms, and a grocery basket for carrying items with the user.

Chair Call Controllers
Most stair lifts come equipped with a caller that will bring the chair up or down to the user (should the chair be on the opposite end of the line from him/her). While this control is usually affixed to the lift itself, many stair lifts come with the option of a wireless call controller to increase a customer’s ease of use.
