More Information

Polyform Splinting Material is a splinting material that is intended for fabrication of custom-molded splints and adaptive equipment. The smooth, gentle material is ideal for clients with pain and irritation of the joints for either a protective splint, or to cushion an orthosis device or a piece of adaptive equipment.

The splinting material comes in a sheet that can be softened in hot water, then draped over the affected area and moded to a customized fit. This material requires minimal handling and it has a minimum resistance to stretch. Once the material cools, it is easy to trim for a comfortable and intimate fit.

The material becomes rigid and has no need for reinforcement and is very effective to splint wrists, hands and fingers, and helping to immobilize or partially immobilize the injured area as well as protecting it from further damage.

To bond the material, a temporary bond can be accomplished by pinching the heated surfaces together. For a more permanent bond, the coating should be removed first. This can be done by either using a liquid remover or by scraping it off with a sharp instrument.

The latex-free splinting material comes in various sizes and as either a single sheet, a case of four, or as a case of six.
