More Information

The Pastel-Stripe Gait Belt is an ideal medical device used in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and at home to help mobilize and transfer a weight-bearing patient who struggles to walk safely independently.

The 56-inch long, 2-inch wide cotton webbing belt is a lightweight, yet strong and durable belt that can comfortably fit around the waist of a patient, enabling a caregiver to help them to stand up and walk from one platform to another.

For example, a caregiver or the patient will place and tighten the gait belt around the patient's waist. This provides a firm and stationary device for the caregiver to grab and hold onto and, with the assistance of the patient, to pull up the patient into a standing position to transfer or ambulate them to a wheelchair, bed, toilet, or for walking exercise. Without a gait belt, the caregiver will have to hold onto loose clothing or the patient themself, which is an unsafe method and an accident waiting to happen during the patient transference.

The latex-free gait belt may not be suitable for heavier or obese individuals or those with recent abdominal or back surgery, organ replacements, abdominal aneurysm, or who are pregnant.
