The standard stethoscope is is an acoustic medical device that aids auscultation, or the process of listening to the internal sounds of a human (or animal) body. Typically, stethoscopes are used to listen for mucus or liquid the lungs, steady and strong heart beats, smooth and steady blood flow, and occasionally, noises from the intestines. Stethoscopes are also commonly used in conjunction with a sphygmomanometer to manually measure a patient’s blood pressure.
The 22 Inch Nurses Stethoscope is made of an anodized aluminum chest piece that makes the device lightweight and portable, and 22 inches of tubing that allows for plenty of room to maneuver so the physician can reach with the stethoscope to listen to the desired part of the body without making either party uncomfortable. The device is equipped with two plastic ear tips to make the listening process more comfortable and to help cancel background and outside noise so the focus can remain on what the stethoscope picks up.
