The MusicGlove Finger and Hand Therapy Suites are structured to strengthen patients' hand and finger dexterity and movements that have been damaged after neurological injuries by rebuilding neurological relations between the brain and the injured hand(s) or finger(s); this process is known as neuroplasticity. The included software program prompts users to touch their thumb to the tips of their fingers in patterns set to music, encouraging them to practice fine motor skills in a fun and engaging manner. One criterion of the user is that they must be able to touch their thumb to at least one of their fingertips or the side of their index finger.
During the session, your computer or tablet screen will display the neck of a guitar with five strings. Each string represents a specific movement, indicated via a hand diagram and unique color. As the song begins, colored circles will move toward the user down the guitar neck along one particular string; the color of the circle will correspond to the movement of that string. When the colored circle lines up with the hand diagram, users are to do that movement. Each coincidence will occur on beats to the accompanying music, making users feel as though they are actually playing the guitar in the song! This method is a fun and entertaining form of rehabilitation.
Choose from a variety of suites to suit your specific needs. Clinics will prefer suites that include multiple gloves as well as a touchscreen computer or tablet with pre-installed software, while home users will just need suites with one or two gloves and a touchscreen tablet with pre-installed software. Accessories to supplement the use of your MusicGlove system are also available. Please see above for a full list of what each suite includes as well as accessory descriptions.
