These single-use iontophoresis electrodes are designed to be used on various treatment sites to deliver a large variety of medication options through iontophoresis directly through the skin. The use of this medication delivery method is often referred to as an injection without the needle.
Iontophoresis electrodes are used to deliver mild electrical currents through medication that is placed on the underside of the pad. The current drives the medications into the tissues through hair follicles and sweat glands. As the current intensity and time applied increases the intensity of the medication delivery increases.
The butterfly pads are designed to prevent creasing of the pads and allow the wings to form around the applied area as the middle stays flush against the skin. This is especially useful when placed on joints or bony prominences. The square pads are available in three sizes; small, medium, and large. The square pads have a generous outside ring of adhesive around the easy-fill window to prevent the pad from sliding or moving on the body during treatment.
