A medical lamp, also called medical task lighting, is focused on a specific area to make the completion of visual tasks easier. It is an adjustable floor lamp with a gooseneck arm for use in hospitals, surgical settings, clinics, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, or any medical facility.
What is a Medical Lamp?
A medical lamp enables a specific area to be illuminated for easier viewing for medical personnel. It has a long and flexible section which attaches to the base of the lamp and to the light. This flexible arm is useful for aiming and adjusting the focus of the light by bending and manipulating it, and some can be adjusted in height.
Medical lamps are normally made from steel or are chrome plated, and may have wheels for easy mobility. Mobile bases can have four or five wheels, depending on specific needs. Lamps without wheels consist of a weighted base to keep it from tipping over and are available in various base diameter sizes.
Some shades of a lamp stay cool to the touch with an inner/outer shade system or a non-metallic head, and are designed in different styles, such as dome or flared. Other shades have a reflector system which provides shadow-free light for procedures, exams, or general use. The particular design of the lamp determines the size of light bulb needed, ranging from a 25 watt bulb to a 60 watt bulb.
