Make-up mirrors are usually table top, tilting plane-glass mirrors, either single or double-sided, and are used as daily living aids for personal grooming. One side of the double-sided mirror is normal magnification while the other side can provide between 4x to 5x magnification. Some mirror options include fogless mirror glass, illumination with embedded lights, and wall-attachment capabilities.
What is a Makeup Mirror?
Those who wear cosmetics sometimes find themselves in the position of trying to put on makeup with holding a mirror in one hand. Sometimes, the results are not good, therefore a person could benefit from a makeup mirror. It can be a two-sided mirror that sits on a stand or attaches to a wall and is hinged on each side so the user can use either side easily. One side is normal magnification, while the other side may be a 4x to 7x magnified. This side is useful for spotting and covering blemishes on the face. A makeup mirror can be almost any shape or size as long as it enables the user to apply makeup with both hands, making the job easier.
A makeup mirror may be lighted but also fairly compact. Lighted makeup mirrors of all sorts are popular because good lighting helps in the proper application of cosmetics. Some makeup mirrors are elaborate and some are just two mirrors encased in plastic on a plastic or metal stand. A magnifying mirror with a spring arm can be attached to the wall and moved and adjusted to a suitable angle while in use, then put back close to the wall to stay out of the way. It can be used in a variety of places and situations, such as for washing or shaving.
Mirrors are available framed or unframed, attached or unattached, and in single-mirror or multi-mirror styles. While many mirrors have straight edges, there are also other shapes that are available. One type may feature one larger mirror in the middle and two smaller side mirrors hinged to each side. Some mirrors may be trimmed in shiny chrome or brushed nickel, or others may feature metal frames in bright brass or an antiqued finish.
When looking for a makeup mirror, look for one that is an appropriate size for the space where it will be stored. An individual should also look for a mirror that is stable and does not turn too easily. It should stay in the required position during use. An advantage if the mirror will be used in different places is for the makeup mirror to have an adjustable height.
