Bicro Stockinette - Synthetic

The Bicro Stockinette is a synthetic undercast material that is designed to offer patient comfort during treatment and wearing of plaster or synthetic casts by providing soft and firm padding between the rough material of a splint or cast and the user's skin.

The orthopedic cast stockinette is the first layer of padding applied during cast application. The water-repellent, synthetic stockinette helps to wick away moisture that builds up when the user's skin is encased within a cast or splint. This helps to keep the user's skin cool and dry, decreasing rashes or skin irritations that might cause the user to try to scratch an irritated patch of skin. The stockinette and cast padding also helps to protect the bony prominences of the user from the hard cast.

The stockinette is measured and applied to cover the entire casting area, with several extra inches beyond the intended cast length. Once the stockinette is applied to the area, cast padding is rolled over the stockinette, followed by the application of the plaster or fiberglass casting tape strips. Once the cast has been placed, the extra stockinette is folded back over the cast edges to help form a padded, smooth edge.

The latex-free, 100% polyester, soft tubular stockinette comes in a heavy-duty cardboard dispensing container that makes dispensing fast, simple, and easy. The stockinette comes in a 25-yard long roll and is available in widths of 1-inch, 2-inch, 3-inch, 4-inch, or 6-inch.
