What is Resident Bedroom Furniture?

Resident bedroom furniture is customized furniture to place in a hospital room or in other care facilities’ bedrooms, such as retirement homes, senior living providers, drug/alcohol recovery centers, or sleep clinics, to help make the medical facility bedroom a more comfortable place for the patient or client to rest.

Often when a patient has to spend time recovering from surgery or illness and has to spend most of the duration in a hospital, the need for a comfortable, sleep-inducing environment is often overlooked. The common hospital room consists of a medically induced room décor that is designed for the speed and ease of patient care and unobstructed emergency care. Sleeping or resting is especially important for elderly individuals or handicapped individuals who must be in bed, or mostly stay within bed or the bedroom area for a long period of time. Having traditional-styled home furnishings warms up the room, allowing for a more comfortable and safer-feeling environment; more so if the patient has personal items scattered around the room on the chests and bedside chest like they would at home.

Why is Resident Bedroom Furniture Different?

Constructed with durable materials and designed to be both functional and attractive, resident bedroom furniture can be customized through the multiple furniture configurations offered that will best enhance the patient’s personal sleeping environment. Complete matching sets can be ordered that include a bedside cabinet, a drawer chest, a wardrobe, a hutch, an armoire, and bed ends (head and foot boards). Each cabinet, chest, and wardrobe is offered in variations of size, number of drawers, and number of doors. All the furniture is constructed of high-laminate with the traditional style of a wood-grained look.

All of the resident bedroom furniture has the following features to make the patient’s bedroom stay as comfortable and safe as possible:

• Positive-stop locks so the resident/patient will not be able to pull the drawers completely out.
• Ventilated backs (three small holes in the back) to help the prevention of bacteria growth and reduce any lingering odors within the drawers.
• Rounded corners for longer lasting wear-and-tear and also to protect the skin and clothes of patients and visitors.
• Durable and sturdy construction with valid warranties for this unique furniture.
• Metal inner bracket construction which offers stronger connection within the cabinets and chests.
• Vinyl-wrapped drawers allowing easy cleaning on the inside of the cabinet drawers.
