What are Pediatric Modular Chairs?
The Inclusion Modular Chair is a seating solution when a standard classroom chair does not provide proper support. It supports mild to moderately involved users from preschool age to college age. This chair can be customized to fit the various needs of different users without the look of a therapeutic chair. The seat is adjustable for angle, depth, and height to allow the seat to back angle and be positioned between 75 and 90 degrees for individualized optimal spinal alignment and therapeutic pelvic positioning. The leg extension tubes are height adjustable which enables the chair to adapt to uneven floors. The flip back armrests have comfortable arm pads that support the individual’s upper extremities and assist with standing and sit-to-stand transfers. They also enable the user to engage in lateral transfers into and out of the chair when necessary.
Accessories for the Inclusion Chair are a heel stop, abduction block, head rest, support blocks, seat and back pad set, foot sandals, butterfly kit, locking wheel kit, and wood tray. An abduction block provides medial thigh support for correct alignment of the femur, a butterfly kit offers anterior chest support for upper extremity functioning, respiratory functioning, and swallowing, and foot sandals keep the feet secure and in alignment. The head rest gives sufficient control to maintain proper alignment of the head and neck for swallowing, respiration, and organization of vision and hearing. Heel stops keep the feet secure as well as providing the ability to stand on the foot board while transferring in and out of the chair. The seat and back pad set increases comfort and sitting tolerance for the ischial tuberosities along with the spinous processes. Support blocks provide lateral thigh and pelvic support for correct alignment of the femur and also provide lateral thoracic support. The wood tray supports the upper extremities for alignment of the shoulder girdle, and allows for the greatest independence in functional use of the arms. This chair is available in four sizes; small, medium, large, and extra-large.
The Odyssey Chair is a multifunctioning chair designed to meet the changing needs of physically challenged children as they grow up. This chair can be adjusted and customized to fit the different needs of one child or several children, with tremendous growth potential. It is an ideal chair for treatment, evaluation, and seating intervention in a clinic, school, or home setting. Its seat is adjustable to various angles and depths as well as different heights. Because of its versatility, the seat can be positioned low for self-transfers, at mid height for use as a play table or school desk, or high as a feeding chair at the dining table or kitchen. There are two models to choose from; the early childhood chair or the secondary chair. Accessories for both models are a heel stop, abduction block, armrests, head rest, support blocks, full lock wheel kit, seat and back pad set, foot sandals, head support wedges, butterfly kit, and trays. An added option is an upgrade secondary package which allows the early childhood chair to grow to a secondary chair without purchasing an entirely new chair.
The School Chair is recommended for physically challenged children with mild to moderate involvement when a standard play table or classroom chair may not provide proper support. It is available in nine sizes in order to fit a wide variety of users in different settings. This chair has a slip-resistant padded seat which is adjustable in depth, height, and angle (flat to seven degrees anterior angle) along with a one inch pelvic positioning belt. Its angled seat position promotes independent transfers and therapeutic positioning. The wide chair model has a steel support bracket under the seat for added security. Accessories for the School Chair are a pommel, side pads, arm rests, butterfly kit, wood tray, foot plate, support back, and mobile base kit.
